FAM trip – agenda preview

The FAM trip sponsored by the Setouchi Tourism Authority is starting in exactly one week.
It promises to be very exciting, with a varied program containing new sites as well as spots I already visited.

Here some highlights (all new for me!) of the upcoming agenda:

Arima Onsen

Just a stone’s throw away from Kobe, this hot spring with beautiful natural surroundings was selected as the most prestigious onsen during the Edo period (1603-1868). I hope we’ll stay there overnight, it would be perfect to relax in a hot spring after the flight from Europe!

Tiny island not so far away from Okayama, Naoshima is known for its many contemporary art museums and is part of the Setouchi Triennale, a contemporary art festival held every three years on several islands in the Seto Inland Sea.
Most of the museums on Naoshima were designed by the famous Japanese architect Tadao Ando and the buildings seem as interessant as the paintings and sculptures displayed!

If you’re fan of manga, this name should be more than familiar. But did you know that the name of the hero of this ninja story originates from the Naruto whirpools between Awaji Island and the northeastern tip of Shikoku Island?
These huge whirlpools seem very impressive, I’m really looking forward to see them!
Naruto city is also famous for the Otsuka Museum of art, the largest exhibition space in Japan, with over a thousand full-size ceramic reproductions of major works of art, including the Sistine Chapel.
